Privacy policy.
Plain words about what this website does, and doesn't do, with your information.

Who we are, and what this covers
This website, prism.org, is run by Prism Health, a Chicago nonprofit that brings healthcare to communities across Illinois. This policy explains what happens with your information when you visit these pages. The short version: this website is for reading. There are no accounts, no sign-ups, and you can browse every page without telling us who you are.
One special case: donations made through our giving page are processed for Prism Foundation by our donation processor, Donorbox, and what you enter there is also governed by Donorbox's own privacy policy. More on that below.
What we collect
Honestly, very little.
- Nothing through forms. The one form on this site (the "start a conversation" note on the giving page) does not send anything to our servers. It opens your own email app with your note filled in, and nothing reaches us unless you choose to send that email.
- What you send us. If you email info@prism.org or call us, we receive what you choose to share, like your name and your question. We use it to respond to you.
- Standard hosting logs. Like almost every website, the servers that deliver these pages keep routine technical logs (such as IP address, pages requested, and browser type) to keep the site running and secure.
- One saved preference. When you answer the cookie notice, your choice ("accepted" or "rejected") is saved in your own browser's local storage so we don't ask again. It stays on your device; it is never sent to us.
What we don't do
- We do not sell or rent personal information. Ever.
- We do not use advertising cookies.
- We do not use analytics trackers or tracking pixels.
- We do not build profiles of visitors.
- We do not have user accounts, so there is no account data to lose.
Third-party services this site uses
A few parts of the site are delivered by other companies. Using any website means your browser shares basic request information (like your IP address) with the servers that send the content back. Here is exactly who that is on this site:
- Donorbox provides the donation form on our giving page. Opening that page loads the form from Donorbox's servers, and anything you enter in it (like your name and payment details) goes to Donorbox, not to this website, under Donorbox's privacy policy. Donorbox may use its own cookies to run its donation service.
- Google Fonts delivers the typefaces on every page. Your browser requests the font files from Google's servers.
- Google Sheets can supply the listings on our events calendar. When the calendar is fed from a published sheet, your browser requests that file from Google's servers; otherwise the calendar loads from this site directly.
- register.prism.org is where event registration happens. It is a separate online system with its own practices; this policy covers only this website.
- sti.prism.org is our separate at-home testing service, linked from the sexual health page. It is also its own system with its own practices.
- Vercel hosts this website. Serving you a page means Vercel's servers see the standard request logs described above.
We also link out to other organizations' websites (for example, public health agencies, Facebook, and Instagram). Those sites are governed by their own privacy policies, and following a link is your choice.
Health privacy
This website does not ask for or collect health information. Reading a page about a program tells us nothing about you or your health. If you have questions about care you received at a Prism event or program, contact us at info@prism.org or (800) 325-1812 and we will connect you with the right team.
Children
This website is informational and appropriate for all ages. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through this site.
Your choices and rights
- The cookie notice. Your answer is stored only in your browser. Clearing this site's data in your browser settings resets it, and the notice will simply ask again.
- Privacy requests. Email info@prism.org to ask what information we have about you (usually nothing beyond emails you sent us), or to ask us to correct or delete it. Depending on where you live, the law may give you specific privacy rights, and we honor requests as the law requires.
- Photos and stories. Community members appear on this site with permission. If you appear here and would like a photo or story removed, email us and we will take care of it.
Retention and security
We keep very little, for as short a time as we can. Emails you send us are kept as long as we need them to help you. Hosting logs are kept for a limited time under our hosting provider's standard practice. Your cookie-notice choice lives on your own device until you clear it.
The site is served over an encrypted connection (HTTPS). Our main security practice is the simplest one: collecting almost nothing means there is almost nothing to lose.
Changes and contact
If this policy changes, we will update this page and the date at the top. Questions are always welcome: email info@prism.org, call (800) 325-1812, or write to Prism Health, 33 W Grand Ave, Suite 500, Chicago, IL.
